I have spent a lot of my time editing and doing visual effects as of late. Ever since I learned to cut and splice actual film stock on a Steenbeck so many years ago I fell in love with the process. Right out of college one of my first jobs was to edit wedding videos, and while they may not have been the most interesting pieces of work I've done throughout the years, they did teach me some fundamentals that I carry with me to this day. I have edited most of the work that I have directed (except my work in television) and worked with some pretty amazing directors along the way to bring their visions to screen.
Along with my love of editing I have also done a ton a visual effects. It started when I made my film 5 Shells; a super low-budget affair that requires some clean-up and compositing. Since I didn't have the money to pay anyone I had to do it all myself, learning After Effects from scratch. Now I have advanced skills in 2D and 3D effects, having taught myself Maya as well. Recently I employed those skills working with clients like Ideo, Medable, Zeit and on two feature films, A Message from Brianna and Dear Best Friend, the latter of which had its premiere on BET+ in January 2022, and the former will find its way onto that platform later in the year.
